Day One: Friday, September 19, 2025
Meet up in Dunedin, FL
Welcome to Hampton Inn Harbor Side
(or wherever you decide to stay)
We will check-in, unpack, settle in, take a rest and enjoy some free time.
Welcome Dinner
We'll have our first gathering to enjoy a delicious meal at Mr. Souvlakis. While there we plan to do a fun ice breaker/warm up exercise, review our itinerary, hear an inspiring chat by Debi and receive your workshop goodie bags.
Hello Dunedin!
After dinner, we'll drive a very short distance to take off our shoes and walk together along the Dunedin Causeway. We'll have a little barefoot beach grounding time and have a moments to discuss art theory, composition, and painting water and sky. Bring a camera to take pictures you may want to paint later.
Day Two: Saturday
Gather for Breakfast - Provided by Hampton Inn Harbor Side
Morning Sketches and Stretches by the pool with a short inspirational message by Debi Russell.
Session One
Explore watercolor pencils, crayons and markers indoors and experiment by "painting" with them. Study the various natural elements you will encounter and create a cheat sheet of techniques on how to tackle these various seaside elements including the ever-challenging water!
Lunch - Get some sunshine as we immerse ourselves into Greek culture on Dodecanese Street. It runs along the side of the Anclote River that leads to the gulf and nearby bayous. This street is lined with shops, restaurants, sponge boats and bakeries. Choose where you'd like to eat - there is plenty of eye candy to photograph for painting later.
Rest and Free Time - Additional time to nap, explore or shop
Session Two - "Sponge Dive"
Come back to our indoor create space for a deep dive into how to paint what we saw today.
We will work on how to paint the natural sponges, buoys, boats and the dock's wood texture.
Dinner - Can be as a group or independently. We have suggestions!
Optional Evening Night Cap in the Lobby - Cheese & wine with time to journal, chit chat or complete your day time paintings if you'd like.
Day Three : Sunday
Gather for Breakfast - Provided by Hampton Inn
Morning Sketches and Stretches by the pool with our inspirational talk
Session Three
Study the various things to consider when painting a landscape. Here we'll create a cheat sheet together for seaside objects such as rocks, sea oats, palms and how to handle sand and shadows.
Lunch - As a group, or on your own
Rest and Free Time - Time to nap, explore or shop
Session Four
Paint en plein air on Sunset Beach... a gorgeous and easily accessible area to paint.
Dinner - Can be as a group or independently
Optional Evening Night Cap in the Lobby - Cheese & wine with time to journal, chit chat or complete your day time paintings if you'd like.
Optional Day Four : Monday
Gather for Breakfast - Provided by Hampton Inn
Morning Sketches and Stretches by the pool with journaling time - Check out of hotel
We are happy to add an optional 5th session this year that you can add on for $50 if you are able to stay over Sunday night. The Monday morning session will be a relaxed time of Caryn helping you to complete started paintings, giving feedback on what you are working on and demonstrating her techniques for painting still and active water.
