Girls of Truth … Her Story for His Glory

Stephanie Ward creator of Girls of Truth Dolls
Through my work, I have the pleasure of teaming up with many interesting people and learning about their businesses! One of my favorite jobs has been working over the past couple of years with an incredible local teacher named Stephanie Ward.

Among other talents, God has placed in her heart a passion for teaching young people, sharing her Christian faith and a life-long love of dolls. In His perfect wisdom, he put these elements together and used Stephanie to create the Girls of Truth doll collection.

I have been privileged to work alongside Stephanie, helping her to bring the creative elements of her vision to life, and I wanted to share that with you today.

We first began working on the Girls of Truth name, tagline and brand. Stephanie's natural teaching abilities shone throughout this process as she strove to keep the branding message simple, direct and honest.

We discussed words that her brand was to be about. Words like humble, strength, purity and calm began to emerge. At the same time, we needed the logo to communicate a certain youthfulness for its intended audience. Then again, we also knew that it needed an almost heavenly, historical quality to speak to the biblical characters that the dolls represent. We heard ourselves talking about pillars, columns, light, the color gold and dignity. Together we explored many logo concepts that might convey these multiple messages. Here are a few of our iterations below.

Through prayer and much collaboration, this logo rose to the top and was finalized then refined.

The next step in our journey was to create watercolor renderings of what the 18" dolls might look like. This included costume designing, choosing their hair and eye colors as well as the overall look she wanted the dolls to communicate. Her pilot dolls were to be Mary and Esther.

As the dolls were being finalized, we turned out attention to packaging. Stephanie wrote while I laid out for her small booklets that tuck inside the boxes with the dolls. The booklets tell the story of their respective biblical character and how she was used by God.

At the end of each of these woman's accounts is a "your story" discussion section. It motivates and challenges the young reader to be courageous, brave and bold for God as well. The booklets beg the question, what is the reader's story, and how will it unfold over the course of their life to reflect God's glory?

Stephanie also had me render a beautiful watercolor scene of what a town might have looked like during biblical times. This will be used as a point of purchase backdrop for the dolls in stores.

As all of the pieces were falling into place, we began crafting elements for the Girls of Truth web site. Stephanie carried out the theme of a story being told for God's glory. You can check it out at girlsoftruthdolls.com

While The Girls of Truth project is just beginning to be marketed, Stephanie welcomes ideas and input on potential stores and interested buyers for these little ladies. As Christmas and the holidays approach please feel free to contact Stephanie and Girls of Truth Dolls via e-mail  or the website if you are interested in purchasing a Mary or Esther doll for a child or collector you love.

I'm so thankful that I was able to help Stephanie tell the story of these women that God used to change eternity!
