Hello friends! I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday. We were all sick at The Dahm house, so Thanksgiving was not quite our usual festivities and feasting. Even so, we are on the mend and getting in the Christmas spirit. With the holiday season coming up, I've been happily doing a lot of custom art pieces. Thought I would share a peak into my process for creating recipe art. The client wanted to include a pop of color that said, "holiday!" I experimented with painting curled ribbon but it never seemed to look right. The Holly leaf I had painted gave it just what we needed. Here you can see the punch bowl that was painted from a photograph. This is the bowl that the client traditionally served the mocha punch in to her kids around the holidays. I'm told it made a special impact to them to see it incorporated into the piece. Here it is completed. I'm now working on a cookie recipe for a pair of cousins whose Moms have been making special German cookies called, Horchen as long as they can remember. That will be my last custom piece for the season so that I can rest up and enjoy all of the holiday activities.
Each of these pieces comes with 8, 8X10 prints in clear acetate sleeves with backer board. They are ready to wrap and give as a memorable gift. Be thinking of what heirloom recipes you might give for birthdays, special occasions or for Christmas next year. I hope your holidays are blessed and beautiful! |
